President’s Message

Welcome to the Junior League of Longview!

We are excited you stopped by our page to learn more about our organization and our efforts to make lasting change in the lives of people in the Longview community! We are celebrating our 80th year of service in Longview and have a rich history of making an impact since 1940. For 8 decades, the league has addressed the most pressing issues in our  community as well as developing women and preparing them for  volunteer opportunities both in and outside of the league.

As our mission statement says, we are “an organization of women committed to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women and improving communities through effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.”

Training  volunteers and community impact would not be possible without the constant support of the generous Longview community through our Annual Funding Drive (http://www.jllongview.org/support-us/donate/)

We are extremely proud to report 100% of all donations made through our annual funding campaign are placed right back into the community via our signature programs such as: School Supply Train, Poverty Conference, Girl Talk,  Kids in the Kitchen, Read as One and Skills for Success.

Other ways the community supports the functions of the league is through annual participation and support of Monster Dash, our 5k/10k Race through historic downtown Longview in October. Also, through our 20+ year partnership with Neiman Marcus, The Bargain Box  (https://www.bargainboxlongview.com/offers a wide variety of Nieman’s merchandise. Be sure to stop by and “Shop the Box” and support the operations of JL Longview.

This year, Junior League of Longview is the proud host of the Longview Sesquicentennial  Anniversary Ball. The 150 Ball (http://www.longview150ball.com/ ) will be held on February 22, 2020 and is  a once in a lifetime event, celebrating Longview’s deep history while also celebrating The Junior League of Longview’s 80th Anniversary. Proceeds from the Ball will benefit the league’s community programs.

Thank you for the honor to serve as the 80th President of the Junior League of Longview, Inc. I look forward to continuing the mission and serving with you.

Warmly,

Kelsey Runge

President 2019-2020
