President’s Message

Welcome to the Junior League of Longview!

Thank you for visiting our website to learn more about this great organization and our efforts to make lasting change in the lives of the people in our community. The Junior League of Longview has a deep and rich history of making an impact in our community since 1940.  Since that first day, our members have been addressing the most pressing issues facing our area.  Now, as we are in our 79th year of service, we are every bit as committed to improving our community and developing the potential of women just as our founders were that very first day.

As our mission statement says, we are “an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.” By training our volunteers, we not only enable them to make a difference through our programs, but also to develop leadership skills that we see them put to use in their personal lives and on boards of other local non-profit organizations, further broadening our reach and impact areas.

Many people are involved in making our League a success. The contributions of the Junior League are made possible not only by the amazing efforts of our volunteers, but also by the generous support of the Longview community through our Annual Funding Drive.  We are extremely proud to report 100% of all donations made through our annual campaign are placed right back into the community.  Also, through our 20+ year partnership with Neiman Marcus, the Bargain Box offers a wide variety of exclusive Neiman Marcus merchandise.   Stop by and “Shop the Box” with proceeds supporting the Junior League of Longview.

I encourage you to learn more about the Junior League of Longview by exploring our website. Learn about our signature programs like School Supply Train and Poverty Conference, the great contributions we have made to our community over the years, and what you can do to join us and make our organization even stronger.  We would love to have you consider becoming a member of the Junior League of Longview or support us by shopping at the Bargain Box, running at the Monster Dash, attending the Poverty Conference, or donating to our funding campaign!

Thank you for this honor to serve as the President of the Junior League of Longview this year. I look forward to working with our members and supporters to make lasting change in our great community.

With love,

Jessica M. LaRue, President
