President’s Message

Welcome to the Junior League of Longview!

Thank you for visiting our website to learn more about this great organization and our efforts to make lasting change in the lives of the people in our community.  The Junior League of Longview has a deep and rich history of making an impact in our community since 1940.  Since that first day, our members have been addressing the most pressing issues facing our area.  Now, as we are in our 77th year of service, we are every bit as committed to improving the lives of others in our community and developing the potential of women just as our founders were that very first day.

As our mission statement says, we are “an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.”  By training our volunteers, we not only enable them to make a difference in our projects and organization, but also learn leadership skills to use in their work and on boards of other non-profit organizations to impact areas that can further broaden our reach.

Many people are involved in making our League a success.  The contributions of the Junior League are made possible not only by the amazing efforts of our volunteers, but also by the generous support of the Longview community through our Annual Funding Drive.  We are extremely proud to report 100% of all donations made through our annual campaign are placed right back into the community.  Also, through our 19 year partnership with Neiman Marcus, the Bargain Box offers a wide variety of exclusive Neiman Marcus merchandise.   Stop by and “Shop the Box” with proceeds supporting the Junior League of Longview.

I encourage you to learn more about the Junior League of Longview by exploring our website.  Learn about our signature projects, the great contributions we have made to our community over the years, and what you can do to join us and make our organization even stronger.  Take this as my personal invitation to you to join our Active and Sustaining members to be part of the Junior League of Longview, support our Fundraisers and Annual Funding Campaign, and help make a difference in our community.

Thank you for this honor to serve as the President of the Junior League of Longview this year.  I look forward to working with our members and supporters to make lasting change in our great community.

Best,

Kristen Ishihara
