Kelsey Runge is proud to serve as the 80th President of the Junior League of Longview. This is her 9th year of service to the league and she has served in an array of positions to further the mission. She has served as School Supply Train Committee and Chairperson (3 years), Program Research and Development Committee and Chair (2 years), Issue-Based Community Impact Chair (2 years), Vice-President of Community (1 year), Nominating Committee, Strategic Planning Committee, Membership Development Committee and Ware Elementary-JLL Liaison. Kelsey first joined the league to meet new women and learn about Longview, but found a place to grow as a woman and volunteer.
Kelsey is a Longview “transplant” from Grand Prairie, Texas, but now calls the Piney Woods her home. In 2010, Kelsey moved to East Texas with her husband, Carson Runge, Partner at Sloan, Hatcher, Perry, Runge, Robertson and Smith Law Firm. Kelsey and Carson have two children, Elizabeth, a 1st grader at Hudson Pep Elementary, and John (3).
Kelsey graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelors of Arts in Journalism.
Kelsey volunteers with the league and at Grace Crossing United Methodist Church. Kelsey is a former writer for East Texas Moms Blog, a City Moms Blog affiliate, and continues to write on her personal blog.
Kelsey’s main passion is teaching her children and spending time with her family. Between carpool lines and family activities, Kelsey devotes her “extra” time to the league, and cherishes serving the organization.
“A brave leader is someone who says I see you. I hear you. I don’t have all the answers, but I am going to keep listening and asking questions.”
